Radial bearings are mainly used as rolling bearings to withstand radial loads, with nominal contact angles ranging from 0 ° . There are generally three different arrangements for this type of bearing:

Back to back arrangement (i.e. wide edges facing each other);

Face to face arrangement (i.e. narrow edges facing each other);

Arrange in the same direction (i.e. parallel).

They can be paired tightly together or separated by washers or sleeves. Some designs arrange three or more bearings together according to the requirements of the spindle. High speed spindles (such as internal grinding tools) mostly use a single bearing and commonly use compression springs to eliminate the gap between the inner and outer rings of the bearing and the ball bearings.

Back-to-back arrangement

After installation in this way, the line connecting the ball of the bearing to the contact points of the inner and outer rings, i.e. the contact angle line, spreads along the direction of the rotation axis, thereby increasing radial and axial rigidity and maximizing deformation resistance.

Face to face arrangement

In this way of installation, the line connecting the contact points of the bearing ball and the inner and outer rings, that is, the contact angle line, converges along the direction of the rotation axis. At the same time, the inner ring of the bearing extends out of the outer ring. When the outer rings of the two bearings are pressed together, the original gap between the outer rings begins to disappear.

Arrangement in the same direction

The bearings installed in this way, along with two preloaded radial ball bearings, can share the working load. This layout ensures that the contact angle lines of the bearings are in the same direction and parallel, but in order to ensure axial stability during installation, two bearings arranged in the same direction must be placed opposite each other at both ends of the shaft.
